Koh Mr Saxman
Koh Mr Saxman curator of Samui Summer Jazz 2023
Koh has been the familiar name to thai audiences and thai musicians for almost 20 years as a saxophone artist who has done many recording works for many artists, as well as his own studio albums.
Koh was born in 1973, and graduated from Chulalongkorn University in Music Education (1991-1994),
Koh became a professional musician since he was 15 with his good skill of saxophone.
Koh had been invited for performing with many Thai famous bands such as the Jazz Infinity, T-Bone before forming his own band and then released his solo album called “Mr.Saxman”in 2002.
Koh’s first solo album called “Mr.Saxman” (2002) attached with the biggest music label in Thailand, “GMM Grammy (Giraffe Records)”.
In 2011 Koh was invited featured artist at Amersfoort World JAzz Festival in the Netherlands. Since then Koh is a regular guests presenting new Thai Jazz music as well as new exceptional talents to the international jazz network like
Tontrakul, Pui, Takeshi Band, Saxpackgirl and Sandpond.

For the past 10 years, Koh Mr.Saxman has recorded his beautiful sound of saxophone for many Thai famous artists such as Bird Thongchai Mcintyre, Nunthida Kaewbuasai, Maleewan Jamina, Jennifer Kim, Loso, Bodyslam, Wiyada Komarakul, etc.
Koh Mr.Saxman is also international wel-known as Thai saxophone artist, one of the members of Unit Asia, a jazz band that contains of a Thai, Japanese, Malaysian members and shows off Asian jazz band to the world.
Koh is a founder of Saxophone Community in Thailand as well as 2 branches of saxophone school called “Sax Society” (www.saxsociety.com) and is also endorser of P.Mauriat Saxophones (www.pmauriatmusic.com)

Lucas Santana
Born in São Paulo, Lucas Figueiredo started his musical studies playing the clarinet in the city of Piracaia, in the country side of São Paulo – Brazil. Through years of hard work, he had the opportunity to participate in several groups in the Bragantine Region, such as the Youth Big Band of Atibaia and the Youth Symphonic Band of Bragança Paulista.
By playing with the Youth Orchestra Tom Jobim – EMESP he was able to perform in some of the most important theaters of the State of São Paulo like the Latin America Memorial, the MASP Auditorium, the São Pedro theater and Sala São Paulo with great artists of Brazilian music such as Roberto Sion, Nelson Ayres, Monica Salmaso, Tatiana Parra, Benjamim Taubkim, Marcos Suzano, Ricardo Herz, Nailor Proveta, among others.
He won the Young Soloist prize into the Tom Jobim Youth Orchestra in 2014 and Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation award 2016. Lucas received a scholarship for the first year of the bachelor’s degree in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam – Holland. Since then he has been developing his career in Europe.
Playing solo, he shared the stage with several artists of Brazilian instrumental music like Edu Ribeiro, Paulo Braga, Marinho Andreotti, Eduardo Neves, Moises Alves, Daniel Sá, Michel Dorfman, Renato Borghetti and many others.
At the moment Lucas’s has concluded the Master’s Program at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, having as mentor Jasper Blom, Simon Rigter, Ben van Gelder and Dick Oatts.
Lucas had the privilege to receive a few awards and win competitions such as Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation 2016, Jazz Contest Bucharest 2017 with AG Quintet, member of JM World Jazz Orchestra 2019, Keep an Eye Records 2020 and Downbeat Magazine Student Award 2021.
Sven Rozier Quintet ft. Lizzy Ossevoort
“the Sven Rozier Quintet consist of five young and upcoming cats on the Dutch music scene. With this band they tastefully play a varied repertoire – effortlessly they go from American Songbook repertoire to swinging jazz music and from bittersweet soul ballads to motown classics.
Sven Rozier is a Drummer, Educator and composer. Born in Chun Chun City, South Korea, Sven discovered at a very early age that drumming was his passion. Later on he graduated from the Conservatory in Rotterdam, specialising in Jazz Music. Throughout his career, Sven played all over the world with renowned artists at several big festivals.
Lizzy is a singer and composer and was born for the stage. She’s been active as a performer for years as has been able to work together with The Metropole Orchestra, John Clayton, Bert van den Brink, Jean Baylor, Stefon Harris and many others. In 2020, Lizzy completed her Master Jazz at The Manhattan School of Music in New York.
She released her first single, What Christmas Really Means in New York City and performed this at The Apollo with pianist and singer Damien Sneed. Lizzy released two more singles and is now working on her debut album; ‘Start Our Search’, that will be released in 2023.
Baer Traa Quintet
Jazz vocalist Baer Traa is coming Koh Samui! With several awards to his name, Traa have a big place in the Dutch jazz. The acclaimed singer has become the voice of a new generation of jazz fans. He combines lyrics with beautiful arrangements and surprising repertoire choices. Expect a night to never forget.
Bio
Baer Traa (Maastricht, 1990) was born into a musical family. From the age of seven he sang as a boy soprano in the St Franciscus choir in Venlo. He started playing as a singer/pianist at the age of fifteen. After high school he was accepted at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam for jazz singing training. He eventually opted for the conservatory of Rotterdam, where he has been taking lessons with Bart de Win, Harjo Pasveer and Fay Claassen ever since. On February 12, 2011 he won the 1st prize and the audience prize of the Dutch Jazz Vocal Competition. In 2012 he reached the final of the Erasmus Jazz Prize.

Sax & Grooves
Sax & Grooves is a powerful dj live act. Danceable, crossing over between jazz, funk, soul and house with a lot of original material and funky tracks by others. Changing positions – between standing behind the dj decks and rocking the mics front stage – makes the show dynamic and varied. Sax & grooves, likes to interact with the audience and get everybody on their feet; clapping, singing, dancing and have a really good time.
Zosja El Rhazi
In 2003 Zosja became a finalist of the Idols program. She gave 4 sold-out concerts in Ahoy and a new artist was born. Through the many shows with cover bands and DJs, she took her talent to a higher level. She also completed a course at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she graduated summa cum laude.
Singing is second nature to Zosja. Partly thanks to a theater education at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and a course at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, she knows how to touch her audience and raise the atmosphere at every party. With her dazzling appearance and sparkling voice, she makes an unforgettable connection with the audience.
